Position Summary:
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting the implementation and enforcement of safety programs to minimize risks across all job sites. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, conducts inspections, provides training, and promotes a culture of safety among employees, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safety Compliance & Inspection: Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Assist in the coordination of safety audits and inspections conducted by regulatory agencies.
- Record and compile safety data, update logs, and schedule equipment maintenance.
- Risk Management: Identify job site hazards and provide recommendations to mitigate risks.
- Assist Project Managers and Superintendents in the development of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and ensure compliance.
- Support the investigation of workplace accidents, injuries, and near-misses, and recommend corrective actions.
- Training & Education: Assist in planning and conducting safety training programs, including OSHA compliance, equipment operation, and hazard awareness.
- Facilitate employee training in First Aid/CPR and maintain accurate training records.
- Ensure that safety meetings, including daily tailboard meetings, are conducted, documented, and reported.
- Provide education on site-specific hazards and necessary precautions.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay up to date with federal, state, and local safety regulations, advising management on compliance requirements.
- Support field teams in implementing project-specific safety policies and SDS requirements.
- Assist subcontractors in meeting job-specific safety program requirements.
- Communication & Support: Maintain positive relationships with employees, clients, and subcontractors to foster a strong safety culture.
- Regularly update and communicate with the Onsite Construction Manager, Superintendents, and Director of Operations regarding safety concerns and improvements.
- Promote a proactive approach to safety through ongoing engagement and leadership.
Qualifications and Expectations:
Technical Knowledge:
- OSHA 30 Construction Certification (Preferred)
- Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) (Preferred)
- CPR/First Aid Trainer Certification (Preferred)
Skills & Experience:
- Prior experience in construction as a safety professional or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of workplace safety regulations and risk management.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and maintain positive relationships with employees at all levels.
Salary Range: $60,000 - $90,000
