Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Produces the survey strategy and procedure document, which details the requirements for survey equipment, survey content, competence requirements and assessments, and survey accuracy, checking, validation, acceptance, and archiving.
  • Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of survey projects to ensure timely and accurate completion.
  • Provides technical support, training and mentorship as related to survey to Field Engineering and Superintendents in a wide range of situations and configurations.
  • Leads the oversight of survey works by direct hire surveyors in a given area or areas, coordinates all survey activities, and manages survey subcontract and resources if applicable.
  • Assists the Corporate Survey Manager with competency evaluations and assignments of qualified scanning and metrology survey personnel
  • Establishes and verifies the project’s survey control network.
  • Provides work control lines and elevations that are required for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials by crafts (Ex: forms for concrete pours, anchor bolts, piping hangers and supports, etc.).
  • Provides checking of “as built” conditions that require the use of surveying techniques.
  • Develops and enforces quality assurance protocols to ensure the accuracy and reliability of survey data.
  • Provides topographic and cross-section surveys as required for planning and payment quantities.
  • Provides quantity calculations as required.
  • Prepares documentation of surveying activities (field books) “as built” drawings and submit for approval upon completion.
  • Operates, maintains, certification/calibration, and adjustment of surveying equipment and measuring devices.
  • Coordinates surveying activities with the project teams to meet the construction requirements.
  • Performs additional related assignments as directed by supervisor.
  • Leads the survey team’s implementation of the project safety, quality, and environmental programs.
  • Supervises sub-contracted survey crews, including verification of survey crews’ control points and work.
  • Supervises daily data downloading and processing.
  • Produces survey’s scanning and metrology strategy and procedure document, which details the requirements for equipment, content, competence requirements and assessments, and accuracy, checking, validation, acceptance, and archiving.

Qualifications and Expectations:

  • Registered Professional Land Surveyor license required.
  • AutoCAD or Civil experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of and ability to use all the surveying equipment and techniques essential.
  • Ability to accurately read blueprints and calculate shapes (geometric, etc.).
  • Two years technical engineering/surveying training and 5-8 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check, including verification of employment, education, and travel.
  • Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs which may require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, using fall protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE), walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, and maneuvering around very small and/or confined spaces
  • Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
  • Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others in the workplace.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

  • Agtek Gradework experience
  • Topcon machine control
  • General awareness of environmental laws
  • Awareness of government compliance standards
  • Experience with drone Lidar hardware and software
  • OSHA 30 Construction
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification


Salary Range: $100,000 - $160,000
