Staff Accountant
The Staff Accountant will assist with the day-to-day accounting functions of the company, month-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and project accounting support. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
Perform monthly bank and balance sheet account reconciliations.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
Analyze financial data and investigate account variances.
Support project managers with project cost reporting and job cost analysis.
Assist with work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and construction contract accounting.
Prepare sales and use tax filings and assist with payroll tax reporting.
Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
Assist with annual audits, financial statement preparation, and lender reporting.
Prepare and analyze various accounting reports for management.
Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
Assist with special projects and process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
2–5 years of accounting experience preferred.
Construction accounting experience is highly desirable.
Understanding of job costing, percentage-of-completion accounting, and construction financial reporting is a plus.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Experience with Vista, or similar construction accounting software is preferred.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
High level of integrity and attention to detail.
