Position Summary:
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for assisting the project superintendent or project manager in the development and coordination of all documentation, including but not limited to job scheduling, cost controls and client management of an assigned project. This position assists, and monitors the documentation required for the implementation, execution and timely completion of a project. The Project Engineer will inform all assigned project management on all aspects of job performance and assist in job purchasing within approved budgets. This position maintains a high degree of knowledge of their project plan and specifications. This position maintains a high degree of safety awareness and professionalism while maintaining all the company’s mission statement and values.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Know, understand, and “live” the company’s mission statement and values.
  • Support the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical systems related to heavy civil, water, power, and renewable energy infrastructure projects.
  • Communicate with clients, utility representatives, consultants, and project stakeholders to understand project objectives and provide technical support throughout all project phases.
  • Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, one-line diagrams, control schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation and coordination of engineering submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, technical reports, calculations, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure electrical work is installed according to plans, specifications, and applicable codes.
  • Support procurement activities by reviewing electrical equipment and material requirements, evaluating vendor proposals, and assisting with purchasing within approved budgets.
  • Assist with project scheduling, forecasting, and cost tracking related to electrical scopes of work.
  • Conduct field inspections and site visits to monitor installation quality, verify compliance, and support troubleshooting efforts as needed.
  • Assist in evaluating electrical equipment performance and recommending solutions to improve system reliability, efficiency, and constructability.
  • Support testing, commissioning, startup, and energization activities for electrical systems and equipment.
  • Maintain communication with utility companies, regulatory agencies, and inspectors as required for project execution and compliance.
  • Assist project management in monitoring subcontractor performance, productivity, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Prepare monthly progress reports, cost projections, and production analyses related to assigned electrical scopes.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable electrical codes, OSHA requirements, environmental regulations, SWPPP requirements, and air quality standards.
  • Support project closeout activities, including as-built documentation, punch lists, testing records, and turnover packages.
  • Review and approve field documentation, reports, and daily work activities as required.
  • Comply with all company IIPP standards, company safe practices, OSHA requirements, NFPA standards, and applicable local/state regulations.

Qualifications and Expectations:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical engineering, construction, utility infrastructure, industrial power systems, or renewable energy projects.
  • Working knowledge of electrical power distribution systems, substations, switchgear, motor controls, and renewable energy infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with applicable electrical codes and standards including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and OSHA requirements.
  • Has or will obtain OSHA 30-hour training certification.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and engineering/design software such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, ETAP, SKM, Revit, or similar platforms.
  • Experience supporting project schedules using industry software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project preferred.
  • Understanding of utility coordination, permitting, and electrical construction practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, technical reports, and contracts.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable.
  • Must be willing and able to travel for prolonged periods of time to project assignments.
  • Knowledge of electrical power grid infrastructure and renewable energy systems strongly preferred.

Physical Abilities:
Candidates must be physically and mentally able to perform the essential duties of the position without hazard to themselves or others including: sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time; bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching as necessary on construction sites; operating standard office and field equipment; observing electrical installations and computer monitors; and hearing and speaking at normal levels to communicate effectively with others in office and field environments.

Salary Range:
$90,000 - $140,000
